Pizza-Inspired Bread Dipping Oil

When you need a last-minute appetizer, this gorgeous pizza-inspired bread dipping oil is your girl. It takes about five minutes, uses ingredients you probably already have on hand, and is always a crowd-pleaser. Think olive oil, tomato, garlic, parmesan, basil, and chili, all swirled together and ready for warm, fresh bread.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 3 garlic cloves crushed
  • ½ cup of Parmesan cheese grated
  • A handful of basil leaves chopped
  • 1 teaspoon of chili flakes
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • Black pepper

Instructions

  • Mix the oil. 
    Add ½ cup of olive oil, 2 tablespoons of tomato paste, the crushed garlic cloves, ½ cup of grated parmesan, a handful of basil leaves, 1 teaspoon of chili flakes, 1 teaspoon of salt, and a good grind of black pepper to a bowl or a large, lipped plate.
    Mix to combine really well, then taste, and season with a little more salt if you like.
  • PRO TIP: To save on washing up, mix the oil in the same bowl or plate you're planning to serve it in.
  • Serve. 
    Enjoy the dipping oil with your favorite bread or pizza crust.

Notes

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS: You can absolutely make the oil ahead of time - the basil will dull in color so if you're serving it at a party, I'd recommend adding it as you go to serve. It will keep well for 5 days in the fridge, in a covered container. You might find that the oil solidifies slightly in the fridge, but it'll soon soften up as it sits at room temperature for a few minutes.
