Hi! I’m Kate Phillips,
the creator behind Dished.

Here you’ll find (mainly) healthy recipes, full of punchy flavors and using fresh colorful (mostly) everyday ingredients. I really believe that cooking doesn’t have to be stressful or overwhelming – so I’m here to show you how to make delicious food for yourself, friends and family that delivers on flavor every time.

About Kate

I grew up in Auckland, New Zealand, but I wasn’t constantly in the kitchen. I was, in fact, in the gym constantly 😅.

I was a competitive gymnast throughout my childhood (we’re talking 5 to 18!), so I really only discovered a love for cooking after that, especially after I moved across the world to London.

Arriving in a new city, knowing almost nobody, I never thought I’d still be here, 10+ years later.

While I had a successful career in digital marketing and social media, the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic shifted my priorities (as it did for many of us).

That’s when I really started exploring cooking and recipe development.

I’d always struggled with imposter syndrome in my marketing career (even after winning industry awards 🤪), so cooking became my happy place – my therapy, really. 

When I started sharing recipes on Instagram, it completely blew me away that other people enjoyed what I was doing, too!

With the help of some very talented designer friends, I launched the Dished by Kate website in 2022. 

After that, I won Mutti’s Golden Tomato Cook competition, a nationwide search for the UK’s best home cook. I (scarily) competed in a live final, presenting my three-course tomato-based menu to expert judges.

That was the moment when I realised I was actually good at this. So I made a crazy leap of faith and took Dished by Kate full-time.

Fast forward to now, and I’m still in London, still loving creating delicious, fuss-free, packed with flavor recipes for you.

From my crazy viral smash dumpling tacos, to fun, creative party food and appetizers, and genuinely quick and easy meals designed for busy weeknights, you’ll find hundreds of recipes on Dished by Kate that you’ll actually look forward to cooking (and eating!) 💃

While the majority of the recipes here are simple enough for everyday cooking, you’ll also find more challenging or ‘project’ type recipes, fab for weekends or special occasions.

Whatever you choose, I’ll break down all the steps and make it as easy to follow as possible. So whether you’re just getting started or are a seasoned home cook, you’ll find something you’re looking for here.
