3 Ingredient Limoncello Spritz

Aug 27, 2023 | 0 comments

Light, zesty, fresh and perfect for summer entertaining, a limoncello spritz is always a good idea. Just combine limoncello, prosecco and soda, then serve up with fresh garnishes. Perfect to scale up for parties.

If there’s a drink that will transport you straight to the Amalfi Coast, it has to be a limoncello spritz.

Limoncello is often served as a post-meal digestif, but it’s wonderful in a spritz cocktail. While the cocktail most synonymous with an Italian spritz is an Aperol Spritz, this limoncello version is a more mellow, zesty and in my opinion, much more tasty drink.

It’s a great summer drink to serve if you’re entertaining – it’s super easy to scale it up using the classic spritz ratio – 3 parts prosecco, 2 parts liqueur and 1 part soda. Some versions of this spritz swap the prosecco and liqueur amounts around, but because limoncello is strong, I like to use a little less here. It packs a lot of flavour into a small amount, but feel free to play around with the quantities to suit your taste.

Ingredients

You just need three ingredients to form the base of the spritz. I like to garnish with lemon slices and fresh mint leaves to finish it off, but the spritz itself only uses these three things:

  • Limoncello. This lovely Italian lemon liqueur is pretty potent (generally around 25% – 30% alcohol) so top your spritz with more soda water if it’s too strong for you. It’s balanced with sweetness so it doesn’t SEEM that strong, but just be aware that it is.
  • Prosecco. Or, you can use any sparkling white wine or even champagne.
  • Soda water. You could use flavoured soda water – lime or lemon flavour would work well.

How to make it

Fill your glass about 2/3 of the way with ice, then pour over your limoncello. Top with the prosecco, then the soda, and finish with lemon slices and fresh mint. Enjoy right away while cold and bubbly.

Got a question?

How do I make the cocktail for a crowd?

It’s really simple to scale this one up – you just need to (roughly) follow the 3-2-1 ratio. So three parts prosecco, two parts limoncello and one part soda water. Or to make things even easier, use one bottle of prosecco, two cups of limoncello and one cup of soda. Don’t add the ice to the bowl or jug with the cocktail in it because the ice will melt and dilute it. Instead, I like to pop ice in the serving glasses, and then top with the cocktail.

Description

Light, zesty, fresh and perfect for summer entertaining, a limoncello spritz is always a good idea. Just combine limoncello, prosecco and soda, then serve up with fresh garnishes. Perfect to scale up for parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Ice
  • 50ml limoncello
  • 60ml prosecco
  • 40ml soda water

To serve (optional) –

  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced
  • Mint leaves

Instructions

  1. Make the spritz. Fill your glass about 2/3 full with ice. Pour over the limoncello, then top with the prosecco and soda water. Stir, then top with lemon slices and fresh mint if you like. Serve right away.

Notes

INGREDIENT NOTES: You can use any sparkling white wine here – or even champagne. Play around with the quantities of prosecco and soda if you like – add more soda if you think it’s too strong, or more prosecco if you’d like it boozier.

MAKING IT FOR A CROWD? This is a lovely cocktail to serve up while entertaining in summer. Use the 3-2-1 ratio – 3 parts prosecco, 2 parts limoncello, 1 part soda. For a crowd, go for 1 bottle of prosecco, 2 cups of limoncello and 1 cup of soda. Add the ice to the serving cups, rather than the cocktail itself.
