Creamy Everything Bagel Dip

Aug 3, 2023 | 0 comments

You need just 4 ingredients, 2 minutes and no special equipment to make the taste of a bagel, in dip form. Perfect for making ahead of time, it’s fab for parties, as a topper for bagels or served alongside grilled meat.

Having a quick, go-to dip recipe up your sleeve is always a good thing, and it doesn’t get much easier than this super quick, one-bowl, everything bagel dip.

Think of an everything bagel, stuffed full with cream cheese and that’s what this tastes like. It’s as perfect as a dip as it is a dipping sauce, toast topper or base for a pile of grilled meat (it’s lovely with miso grilled chicken, lamb koftas or honey harissa chicken). I love to serve it with a big pile of bagel chips or pita chips for a delicious crowd-pleasing party snack.

Ingredients

You really need only four ingredients to make this super easy dip.

Ingredients for everything bagel dip on a grey marble background and labelled.
  • Greek yogurt. Go for a thick, proper Greek yogurt (low-fat is fine), or labneh. You want the dip to be nice and thick, so regular plain yogurt will be too runny.
  • Cream cheese. A little cream cheese gives the dip the very recognisable flavour of a bagel (which is so often paired with cream cheese). It will be easier to mix if it’s at room temperature – but a quick hack to softening fridge-cold cream cheese is to pop it into the microwave for 10 to 15 seconds.
  • Everything bagel seasoning. This gorgeous mix of seeds and seasoning is the star here and we’ll use a lot of it in the dip. Make your own everything bagel seasoning (it’s VERY easy) or you can use your favourite store-bought blend.
  • Lemon juice. I like to include a little lemon juice just to brighten the dip and freshen it up. Fresh is best if possible, otherwise, bottled lemon juice will work too.

How to make it

This dip really is as easy as mixing all your ingredients together in a bowl, then spooning it out onto a plate or into a bowl and serving.

It’s lovely with crunchy everything bagel chips for a proper bagel experience, but it pairs perfectly with any crunchy cracker, chip or your favourite bread (I love it with pita chips, chilli cheese focaccia or rosemary parmesan bread). Or, use it as the topper for 2 ingredient Greek yogurt bagels.

Got a question?

How long will the dip last?

The dip keeps well in the fridge, stored in a covered container for 5 days. It’s best at room temperature if possible. Give it a little mix before serving so any liquid released from the yogurt and cream cheese can be mixed back in.

Could I use more cream cheese?

You can play around with the quantities if you like – feel free to add more cream cheese if you like that flavour. You can also leave the cream cheese out entirely.

What else could I add to the dip?

Finely sliced scallions or finely diced red onion, fresh herbs like basil, flat-leaf parsley, thyme or oregano, chopped crispy bacon, or smoked salmon all work well. Think of what you like on a bagel and go from there!

Description

You need just 4 ingredients, 2 minutes and no special equipment to make the taste of a bagel, in dip form. Perfect for making ahead of time, it’s fab for parties, as a topper for bagels or served alongside grilled meat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup everything bagel seasoning, plus more to serve

Instructions

  1. Mix the dip. Add 1 cup of Greek yogurt, 1/2 cup of cream cheese, 2 teaspoons of lemon juice and 1/4 cup of everything bagel seasoning to a mixing bowl. Use a large spoon or spatula to mix well to combine into a thick, cohesive dip.
  2. Garnish and serve. Spoon the dip out onto a serving plate, or into a bowl, then drizzle with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and scatter over 1 tablespoon of the extra everything bagel seasoning. Serve with pita chips, bagel chips or spoon onto 2 ingredient Greek yogurt bagels.

Notes

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS: The dip will keep well in the fridge, stored in a covered container, for up to 5 days. Give it a mix before you serve it so that any liquid that’s been released from the dip can be mixed back through.

INGREDIENT NOTES: Cream cheese is easier to mix when it’s at room temperature – when it’s fridge cold you can end up with little lumps throughout your dip. If you need to warm it up quickly, just pop it into the microwave for 10 – 15 seconds. You can use more cream cheese in the dip if you like – or use more Greek yogurt. Just taste it and adapt it to what you like.

ADD-INS: This is a wonderful base recipe that you can really make your own. Mix through finely sliced scallions (spring onions), or diced red onion, fresh herbs like basil, flat-leaf parsley, thyme or oregano, chopped crispy bacon or even smoked salmon. Think about what you enjoy on a bagel, and go from there.
